Where the team fits in

The Internal Audit team sits within the Risk & Assurance function under the Finance & Business Services Group, headed up by the CFO. Internal Audit is responsible for the development and execution of the annual risk based Internal Audit plan and delivering the Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) Program required by NewsCorp.

What the role is all about

The Lead Internal Auditor is key to the Internal Audit team and will provide technical audit expertise for the SOX program and Internal Audit Plan. The role will assist in the audits and Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) work of REA Group with a focus on the work in our REA India subsidiary.

This includes the development and execution of the REA India annual risk-based audit plan, ensuring the delivery of quality audits alongside stakeholders in REA India. You will also coordinate the REA India SOX program and audits end to end:

  • Managing the execution of audits and testing of controls in accordance with required SOX and Audit Methodologies

  • Liaising with NewsCorp and External Auditors on SOX testing requirements

  • Acting as an advisor to the REA India team on controls, remediation, monitoring and validation of action items

  • Coordinating and influencing relevant stakeholders in REA India

  • Ensuring the quality and timeliness of the SOX testing, audits and reporting delivered by our co-sourced partners

  • Performing testing of design and operating effectiveness of controls where required and working with control owners on remediation of deficiencies noted

  • Completing, reviewing workpapers , audit reports and updating of work into the GRC platform

  • You will provide succinct and timely updates on the audit findings, recommendations and SOX program to the Head of Audit and management in REA Group.

You will have the confidence to work independently and be the lead reviewer of the SOX program of work and audits across India. Strong stakeholder engagement will be a strength to you as you build relationships with our India team and foster meaningful working relationships.

There will be some travel to India as you build and maintain relationships with our team however, the role will be based in Melbourne where our Finance and Business Services team are located.

Who we’re looking for

  • CA or CPA, CISA or equivalent preferred

  • 4-6 years demonstrated experience of, and capability in audit processes and methodologies

  • Proven capability in the execution and delivery of audits

  • Experience in financial, operational audits and IT audits

  • Ability to work independently

  • Conversent with SOX requirements and related reporting

  • Experience advising process and control owners on opportunities for improvement or risk.

  • Has business acumen, easily approachable, and engages with the business, to find practical solutions

  • Excellent business writing and presentation skills aligned to the needs of executives and Board members

  • Experience working with India is desirable
