The Monitoring and Analytics team provide technology and security service teams with near-real time visibility of the status of technology systems across the bank, in order to ensure service health, security and compliance, with the objective of reducing incidents, improving system availability and increasing the pace of change.

The Monitoring and Analytics Engineer will support our monitoring and analytics suite of products, look for optimisation and better utilisation of product opportunities, and actively contribute to strategy design and architecture of platforms, ensuring the team is also conversant with new and emerging technology.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Working collaboratively with relevant technical teams to ensure a consistent approach to observability, monitoring and alerting
  • Work cross functionally with application engineering teams to modernise and support cloud integration efforts with different monitoring tools and cloud native solutions
  • Provisioning technology operational monitoring, alerting and analytics – tools, patterns and implementation of services (includes infrastructure, application, end user experience etc)
  • Build and operate automation tools to reduce operational tasks spanning security, performance engineering and application monitoring
  • Compliance monitoring, alerting and analytics establishment
  • Strategy and research, assisting with technical roadmaps and product development plans 

About you 

To be successful in this role you will have skills across APM and Analytics products, in particular Splunk, AppDynamics, New Relic, public cloud platforms and Open telemetry. Specifically: 

  • Demonstrated experience configuring, implementing, and supporting Splunk 8.x infrastructure, on-premises and SaaS
  • Proven experience with Splunk dashboards, power user knowledge, regex and query languages
  • Experience with APM tools like AppDynamics (or similar technology) Administration and configuration, including Health rules and Dashboarding, with in-depth product expertise to aid with MTTR.
  • High degree of understanding and expertise with Public Cloud platforms, such as AWS and associated services, such as AWS S3, Kubernetes Services, CloudWatch, CloudTrail etc (and comparable GCP services)
  • Good understanding of the data storage mechanism and archival policies in AWS and preferably GCP
  • Proven experience across open source data collector and monitoring products, such as Fluentd, Prometheus etc
