Role and team
This role sits within the Corporate Development team and reports to General Manager, Corporate Development. The Corporate Development team assists REA Group and its business units to develop, define and evolve their partnership and inorganic growth strategies to meet the overall Group's aspiration of profitable growth. Key responsibilities of the team include identifying, assessing, executing and portfolio managing potential corporate transactions, and negotiating strategic partnerships, for REA Group
Corporate Development sits within the Finance and Business Services team, headed up by the Chief Financial Officer. The Finance and Business Services team, or FaBS as we like to call them, is the engine room of REA Group. The team is comprised of Finance, Risk, Procurement, Pricing, Contracts, Customer Collections, Payments, Facilities Management, Corporate Development, and our Customer and Business Systems IT development teams.
You will play a hands-on role in the origination, assessment and execution of corporate investment activity including mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, divestitures and strategic investments (including corporate venture capital) and commercial partnerships.
Day to day of the job
Monitor offshore and domestic markets and product segments including competitor and peer activity
Translate market and competitor insights into thought leadership on potential opportunities to inform company decision making
Assist with proactively identifying and building relationships with potential commercial partners and acquisition/investment targets
Investigate, assess and respond to inbound enquiry as it relates to M&A and investment activity
Assess the viability and financial / strategic implications of potential M&A and commercial partnership opportunities
Execute potential corporate transactions and commercial partnerships, including autonomously leading key work streams such as financial analysis, valuation, due diligence, negotiation, documentation and integration
Live the REA values and contribute to an energetic, high performing team
Who we’re looking for
Relevant tertiary qualifications
Demonstrated experience in investment banking (VP or Senior Associate level) or similar corporate advisory and / or internal Corporate Development background
Familiarity with corporate finance execution from origination through to completion
Experience conducting market research and analysis
Highly developed verbal and written communication skills
Experience developing detailed 3-way (P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow) financial models and valuations, including discounted cash flow valuations
Experience preparing presentations, board papers and other bespoke analytics to support decision-making
Track record dealing with and influencing internal and external stakeholders across multiple levels
Ability to operate in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, priorities effectively and meet deadlines
Digital or real estate industry experience highly regarded
