About the team

FP&A is an incredibly powerful function and it’s no different at Canva!

As we continue to grow at scale we need to make sure that everyone is investing mindfully in the strategies and goals that are going to drive the most growth and have the biggest impact.

Working closely with Business Leaders, our CFO and Investor Relations we help the company predict, track, report (and smash) their goals.

At Canva we have three core Foundational Goals linked to Active Users, Annualised Revenue and Profitability; and our FP&A team is organised in a similar way. Excitingly this role will champion the Profitability goal. This programmatic approach to FP&A helps support our people in a way they understand and means we are all working towards the same overarching goals.

To do that our FP&A team performs the following core pieces of work:
* Develops robust plans up front
* Understand how execution maps to strategies and how those strategies map to financial plans
* Track and report against performance against goals at the company & strategic level
* Help our people understand how they contribute to the success of our business
* Hold people accountable to performance against their goals (and therefore our company performance)
* Help teams take action in a strategically aligned way when things don’t go according to plan

What you'll do

  • As the FP&A manager in our Profitability Program you will be responsible for leading a highly motivated team of analysts that own forecasting and support across our Profitability Program. In this role you will:
  • Bring clarity to chaos across forecasting: Building and owning the planning and forecasting framework (seasonal and annual) for the entire profitability program and P/L
  • Drive a rolling forecast process that is collaborative, balances business goals with desired financial outcomes, and is delivered in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Navigate ambiguity: Gather information and context from various stakeholders, business updates and internal resources to derive and report on an accurate GAAP revenue, cost of revenue, operating expense and cash flow forecast.
  • Narrate the numbers: Clearly and coherently communicating financial performance and anticipated future forecasts
  • Empower your team: Building, developing and coaching a diverse and exceptional team of five analysts.
  • Deliver value: Continuously evaluate opportunities for enhancement of processes in order to maximise effectiveness and ensure seamless operation at scale.

We'd love it if you had

  • CA / CPA Qualification (or equivalent)
  • FP&A / Analytical Skills background – experience handling and analysing complex, high volume data
  • The ability to think beyond numbers and combine data with strategy and financial insight
  • Be able to distil information in a creative and visual manner so that it is digestible to both finance and non-finance partners
  • Proven financial modelling skills, an expert in Excel, experience with other planning and reporting systems would be beneficial
  • Coaching skills, helping the team to achieve and identify their professional development goals
Being a Force for Good

One of our core values at Canva, “Being a force for good” means we are actively working towards a world that isn't just good for a small few, but one that’s good for everyone.
