About the role:

An exciting opportunity has opened within the Portfolio Funding Team for full time role of Assistant Manager, Portfolio Funding commencing Mind January. In this role, you will have the primary responsibility of assisting the Managers and Senior Managers in implementing successful business development and relationship management strategies and achieve profitable outcomes for the Bank and our customers.

The Assistant Manager, Portfolio Funding plays a key analytical role by risk assessing debt portfolios and the bank’s counterparties while also leading the engagement with Finance and Treasury (Program Management).

The main duties and tasks you will be responsible for are:

  • Providing proactive assistance to the Manager and/or Senior Manager with the delivery of the various activities that assist with business growth and development
  • Conducting in depth risk assessments of new and existing debt portfolios and counterparties (including loan servicers) to ensure all risks are identified and suggest strategies to rectify any risk issues.
  • Ensuring all customer annual reviews are completed on time
  • Ensuring customers are aligned to the Banks strategies, values and risk appetite and
  • Acting as the primary point of contact with Program Management for daily matters relating to portfolio matters, and act as secondary point of contact for the management of daily matters with the customer / customer
  • Providing insight to portfolio characteristics and performance and make recommendations that will enhance the banks risk profile and/or the customers value proposition
  • Helping to ensure that the Portfolio Funding annual budget is met

Please note: Interstate travel may be required for this role as well as a requirement for Flexible working hours - Some out of hours work required from time to time.

About the division:

Portfolio Funding is a specialist business within the Bank’s Business and Agribusiness Banking Division which specialises in the financing and acquiring of third party originated debt portfolios across many different asset classes, using securitisation techniques to mitigate the risks inherent in the assets and generate enhanced yields. Our target markets are the mid to large NBFIs, small to medium ADIs and digital/challenger Banks within the residential, commercial and consumer markets.

About you:

We are seeking a strong communicator with solid commercial acumen, who is both customer and results focused. In addition to this, the ideal candidate for this role will also have:

  • Highly developed verbal and written communication
  • Highly developed numerical calculation and reasoning
  • Lateral thinking with strong problem-solving skills and innovative solutions
  • Some exposure to business development / new customer origination and customer relationship management
  • An understanding of the issues to consider in risk assessing debt portfolios and counterparties including credit assessment and collections procedures
  • Some knowledge of wholesale funding deal structuring
  • Some accounting, legal and credit knowledge
  • Exposure to project management
  • A working knowledge of financial modelling and financial mathematics
  • Ideally candidates will have some exposure to the ADI and NBFI markets and to external rating agencies in the rating of debt portfolio (Standard and Poors, Moodys and/or Fitch)
