Senior Tech Lead

The role sits within the Customer Product & Experience group and specifically within the Agency Services portfolio. Your teams work on digital services to support residential real estate agencies, including: 

• Services for residential agents from prospecting to settlement. 

• Property manager services for processing rental applications. 

These services are implemented through a range of systems, technologies and partners, including technologies such as Java, Typescript and some Scala. They reach tens of thousands of customers directly and via prop-tech industry partners. 

While no two days are ever the same, you’ll be: 

• Delivering new Software as a Service (SaaS) products for property managers and sales agents, as their work becomes digital prime. 

• Working with Design and Product to design and develop product fit for market, especially in an increasingly competitive prop-tech landscape. 

• Leading teams of experienced full stack developers (Melbourne and Xi'an) 

• Working with Tech Leads and Architects to ensure our solution is line with our technical vision 

• Informing delivery planning and technical design by providing a balanced view of options, effort, and quality considerations 

• Keeping abreast of the latest technology advancements to inform product and technical design 

• Proactively contributing to the continuous improvement of products, technology, process and team development 

• Actively developing skills and experience through continual learning and evaluation 

Who we’re looking for 

• Someone with a few runs on the board - you will ideally have 5+ years leading engineering teams  

• Demonstrated ability to envision web-based services that meet client needs & solve business problems  

• Expert skills in developing long-term system architecture strategies utilising techniques such as DDD, micro-services, continuous deployment. 

• Expert skills in designing 3rd party APIs for external system integration, having previous experience using GraphQL, HTTP/REST and OpenAPI specifications. 

• Demonstrated experience with modern object oriented or functional programming practice in two or more of our programming languages – Scala, Java, TypeScript or JavaScript.  

• Experienced in designing data using ElasticSearch and BigQuery is desirable
