What we’re doing
With us, you’ll experience Impact. You’ll be part of our Residential team, within the Customer Product and Experience section of REA Group. The Residential team is responsible for the real estate agent & agency side of our flagship realestate.com.au experience and has a focus on providing solutions to address the variety of needs for real estate agents & agencies dealing within established properties.
This role has key strategic importance and visibility within the business. This is a unique role that will focus on delivering solutions & innovations that solve problems/opportunities on both sides of the marketplace (i.e. offering value for consumers, as well as helping our customers attract and convert those opportunities).
When you join the Residential and Customer Product and Experience teams, you join a cross-disciplinary group of high achievers representing product, design, delivery, engineering, analytics, sales, go-to-market and marketing, supported by PR, Communications, Legal, Finance and P&C.
What the role is all about:
Designing new systems to support new customer & consumer experiences
Forming & leading a team of developers
Work with Tech Leads and architect to ensure our solution is line with our technical vision
Inform delivery planning and technical design by providing a balanced view of options, effort, and quality considerations
Keep abreast of the latest technology advancements to inform product and technical design
Proactively contributing to the continuous improvement of products, technology, process and team development
Line manager of developers in the squad
Actively developing skills and experience through continual learning and evaluation
Who we’re looking for
Expert skills in designing and building systems with cloud technologies (e.g. AWS EC2, Lambda, SNS, SQS, S3, basic networking etc..)
Expert skills in one or more programming languages and significant experience in at least one of the ones we use (Scala/JS/TypeScript)
Expert in designing and building service-based systems, (e.g. REST API, GraphQL, auth, queue-based) with good performance and security
Expert skills in modern software development techniques (e.g. functional programming, object oriented programming, test-driven development and CI/CD)
Experienced in agile environment and systems development life cycle
Able to communicate and collaborate effectively with other teams/tribes and stakeholders.
Able to lead engineering teams in a collaborative team environment
Able to provide business solutions with constraints/limits and adapt to changes
Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with product owners, designers, engineers, and other technical leaders with other teams / tribes across the entire organisation
Work productively within tight deadlines in an agile environment
Experienced in event driven architecture is desirable (e.g. SQS/Kinesis/Kafka)
