About the Role

Esri Australia Managed Cloud Services (MCS) delivers an Industry-Leading ‘Platform as a Service’ by leveraging automation, AWS infrastructure and our cloud expertise.  The Cloud System Administrator provides day-to-day management and maintenance of our client’s hosted network and server infrastructure, ensuring stability of hosted environments. The role is focused on delivering an exceptional customer service experience for internal and external users/customers.

Key responsibilities of the role include: 

• Use and maintain automation systems to manage client environments through their hosting lifecycle 
• Technical troubleshooting to identify root causes, restore services, and prevent issues from recurring 
• Innovate to continually improve network and systems performance, and processes. 
• Document all processes. 

A key component of this role is to ensure the Managed Cloud Services Team deliver a fantastic service across the entire platform that we deliver to the customer. This ranges from ArcGIS platform products to infrastructure. Being successful in this role involves developing core Esri ArcGIS product knowledge as well as cloud infrastructure and platform experience and skills.  The Cloud System Administrator supports other MCS team members with projects and escalated issues as needed.

About You

Coming with MSP experience, you are keen to learn, develop and use your skills within GIS and in cloud technologies.

You have great communication skills and a client centric approach. 

• A bachelor’s degree in associated technology disciplines (Information Technology, Computer Science etc) is highly desirable along with some training and/or certifications in related disciplines will be highly regarded (AWS/Azure).
• Experience – Proven experience (2+ years) in systems administration in cloud hosted environments (AWS, Azure, etc). 
• Scripting / Programming - Experience with scripting / programming languages to support network / web service and best practices and automation (i.e., PowerShell, Python). 
• Commercial experience with Microsoft Windows hosting environments utilizing web-based services with exposure to Linux will be highly regarded. 
• ITIL - Strong knowledge of ITIL practices is a must, ITIL 4 Foundation certification will be an advantage. 
• Troubleshooting - Excellent fault diagnosis and problem-solving skills. 
• Communication - Effective written and verbal communication skills – ability to write concisely for documentation, project specifications, business cases, and tenders. 
• Ability to communicate with clients, peers, management, and vendors. 
• Customer Service - Excellent customer service skills, able to interact effectively with all levels of the business with varying levels of IT knowledge. 
• Willingness to understand and maintain and sound understanding of the ArcGIS product suite and GIS is a must.
• Working rights - You must hold current permanent and full-time working rights in Australia.
• Personality/behaviour aligns with Esri Australia’s core values.

• Nice and useful to have one or more areas of experience or background:

             - Previous experience writing infrastructure as code, e.g., Terraform, YAML, JSON, etc.
             - Experience using code repositories, such as Bitbucket/Github / Web server experience, such as IIS, Apache, Nginx, etc / Experience with configuration management applications (Ansible, Chef, Puppet, etc.)
             - Experience managing Postgres and SQL Server databases and monitoring query performance and tuning of databases
             - Network management in a cloud hosted environment
