Job Description

Canva’s Commitment and Mission

At Canva, we celebrate diversity. We deeply believe that bringing together diversity of thoughts, perspectives and expression is key to building the best product, team and company. We look for many different skills and abilities, as well as how you can enhance Canva and our culture. So, even if you don’t think you quite meet all of the skills listed or tick all the boxes, we’d still love to hear from you!

Our mission at Canva is to empower the world to design and since launching in 2013, we have grown exponentially, amassing over 75 million monthly active users across 190 different countries and a team of over 2,800 people… and the best bit is that we’ve only achieved 1% of what we know we’re capable of.

Join us and design your future.

Product Management at Canva

The mission of our Product Managers is to create the most accessible design tool for every person in the world. We believe that we can improve the world by empowering everyone to design and communicate visually. As a Product Manager at Canva you help set this vision, define what that future looks like, and build the products and features that get us there.

Product Managers collaborate with Canva’s founders to set the strategic direction, scope, and success metrics for product initiatives. We work across teams of designers, software engineers, marketers and analysts to ensure we're delivering an exceptional experience to all our users. We are responsible for implementing and collaborating on product strategy, road mapping, and prioritisation as our product grows.

It’s our responsibility to see products through their entire lifecycle—from concept through to validation, build, post-launch analytics and iterations.

About Teams & Education

The Education group within the Teams & Education Supergroup is on a mission to empower creativity and collaboration in every learner.

We build for all of Canva’s Education users including K-12 teachers and learners through to University faculty and staff as well as the Canva for Education and districts product.

Composed of two engineering teams and hundreds more Canvanauts contributing to Education across the business, the group is working towards reaching every classroom in every school across the globe. We’ve made incredible progress now with more than 20 million monthly active teachers and students. The next step in our journey is to scale our efforts globally to reach every school and to become the go to creation tool in the classroom.

We are looking for a Product Lead for Education to join us to help propel us towards our vision.

About You

  • You can dream up a vision, set a product strategy and bring teams together to create and deliver a roadmap that requires multiple teams and groups to support.
  • You thrive in a collaborative fast-paced environment, working with Product, Engineering, Design, Marketing, Sales and everyone else in between. You can scale a team during hyper growth, coach a team of product managers and your communication skills inspire your teams to dream and achieve some incredible goals.
  • You are passionate about Education, have experience working with teachers, students and ideally have worked in an Edtech company or have led an Education Product within a tech company.

Goals you'll achieve in your first 6-12 months

  • Settle in, learn the Canva landscape, learn about your teams and the Education offerings today.
  • Work with the Education teams to ship your first features or improvement and learn how our product process works.
  • Take on coaching and operational leadership responsibilities.
  • Become the voice and subject matter expert for Canva Education customers. Dive deep into the data to understand this deeply.
  • Take over long term strategic leadership responsibilities - starting with a vision and strategy for creating the world's most creative education resource marketplace.

  • Product strategy for driving the Education experience at Canva.
  • Product leadership of the Education PM team, coaching, leading and scaling the teams to achieve their goals.
  • Partner with the design lead to bring each of the roadmap initiatives to life.
  • Partner with engineering leads to build the optimal product experience.
  • Group Leadership and Operational excellence - ensure we are building an extraordinary, hard-working, impactful team of cross functional experts from Product, Engineering and Design.
  • Oversee the planning process and coordinate the efforts of a cross functional team to maintain a happy healthy team that sets big goals and achieves them.
  • Become the go-to person on how we can drive Education across all of Canva to help us achieve our goals.

Experience you'll have

  • You have 8+ years of proven experience in a product management role; in a product-led Edtech or consumer facing SaaS product with teacher and student customers, related online software product or digital product.
  • You're experienced in coaching Product Managers to deliver on the strategy and build their key craft areas. You have 2+ years experience coaching several product managers.
  • You are constantly motivating those around you through your passion and drive for what you do and keep everyone on track, ensuring everyone’s doing their best. You can rally the team to work together and make sure everyone is working effectively to reach their goals.
  • You love data (both qualitative and quantitative) and can turn insights into actions.
  • You are a dreamer who relishes in defining visions and an executor who can get things done.
  • You are a user advocate that values the backing of research and data analysis when it comes to creating modern solutions, shipping new products, and addressing your users’ real needs.
  • Ideally, you have experience with human centred design and have high empathy for teachers, students and parents.
  • You consider yourself a bit of a creative and can collaborate with designers. You enjoy pushing the limits of what is possible, dreaming up inventive solutions to solve exciting problems. You believe in Canva’s mission and want to be part of the team making it possible.
  • You pride yourself on being an owner and getting projects from idea to live as quickly as possible! You move ideas from the chaos of brainstorming and mock-ups to the clarity of execution and impact.
