Rural Bank is proudly part of the Bendigo and Adelaide Bank group, offering banking services to Australian farmers. As a specialist rural lender we assist farmers to obtain appropriate finance to grow their farming business.

Within Rural Bank the Operations division provide important transactional support to our customers and stakeholders to make ensure they get the help they need and only the best customer service!

We currently have two 12-month fixed term contract opportunities for a full-time Customer Transaction Officer to join the team reporting into the Team Manager Customer & Transactions. As a key point of contact you will provide a high level of customer service and administrative transaction support to Rural Bank customers directly, or through Sales and Credit stakeholders.

You’ll be responsible for the establishment, drawdown, and ongoing maintenance of loan and deposit assets, along with the processing of financial value transactions on customers’ accounts. The team also manages customer support services via inbound and outbound calls and emails.

This is a varied role where you will gain exposure to Rural Bank and the Agribusiness area, engaging collaboratively with a broad network of stakeholders. You can combine your outstanding attention to detail with your love of customer service. Some prior experience in processing customer transactions, especially deposits and loans would be ideal, the rest we can train you up in on the job!

As the Customer Transaction Officer you will:

  • Process all administrative tasks across all functions of the team in a timely and accurate manner
  • Provide customer support through the inbound call services offered
  • Apply initiative, judgement, and problem-solving skills in your work
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with Sales, Distribution, and Branch Network staff
  • Maintain a strong focus on delivering exceptional customer service to both internal and external stakeholders


To be successful in the role, you'll have:

  • Previous experience working in a customer facing environment such as a branch or call centre
  • Good computer skills in both applications and business systems
  • Experience in processing customer transactions
  • Demonstrated capabilities in producing accurate work with a high level of attention to detail
  • Great communications skills - both oral and written
  • Prior experience in loan establishment, drawdown, settlement, and account maintenance functions is highly desirable
  • AFS Tier 2 accreditation (Financial Services Reform Act) is desirable but not mandatory
