Babcock New Zealand are looking for High Frequency Communications System Technicians to join our highly-skilled team in Auckland.

 

About the role

 

Join our team as an HF Communications System Technician and play a crucial role in maintaining and supporting defence communications capability for the Royal New Zealand Navy and the New Zealand Defence Force.

 

You’ll work in a dynamic environment, ensuring the continuous provision of HF communications.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Ensure the HF Communications System is maintained to meet contractual KPIs.
  • Support the delivery of HF Communications capability to NZDF.
  • Contribute to KPI reports for the wider team.
  • Assist in developing and managing maintenance and repair processes.
  • Participate in HF Communications System training and compliance with safety regulations.

About you

 

As the ideal candidate, you willhave at least one year of experience in Radio Communications and Electronics, coupled with strong diagnostic abilities. Excellent organizational and time management skills are crucial, along with a thorough knowledge of NZ electrical safety regulations. A proactive problem solver with good communication skills and proficiency in MS Office applications would be a great fit. Familiarity with Defence or Communications environments and the ability to create technical instructional materials would be desirable qualities.

 

NZ EWRB Electrical Service Technician Registration, a National Diploma in Engineering (Electrotechnology), or having an industry qualification in Computer and Networking knowledge will be highly regarded.

 

Required Skills & Competencies

 

Essential

 

  • Technical problem-solving abilities and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Capability in using MS Office applications.
  • Possession of a current full driving license.

Desirable

 

  • Experience in a Defence or Communications environment.
  • Familiarity with PC-based control systems.
  • Ability to create technical and operational instructional materials.
